The Yellow-Tailed Black Cockatoo (Calyptorhynchus funereus) is one of Australia’s most striking parrots, known for its deep black plumage, bright yellow tail panels, and bold yellow cheek patches. Our hand-reared babies are raised with exceptional care, making them intelligent, playful, and affectionate companions for experienced bird lovers.
Each chick is health-checked by an avian veterinarian and tested for psittacosis and polyomavirus. We include a 72-hour health guarantee for added peace of mind. From the hatchling stage, our birds are hand-fed, socialized, and given natural aviary time to ensure balanced development and a confident temperament. Yellow-Tailed Black Cockatoos are admired for their glossy black feathers contrasted with vivid yellow tail panels and cheek accents. They are highly intelligent, curious, and moderately vocal, often forming deep bonds with their caretakers. With a lifespan of 40–50 years, they require committed, long-term guardianship.
These cockatoos thrive in a spacious environment, ideally an aviary measuring at least 6’W x 4’D x 6’H, with access to a protected flight area. Their diet should include native nuts such as casuarina and eucalyptus, along with premium palm nuts and fresh foliage. Daily enrichment, natural wood perches, and protection from extreme temperatures are essential for their well-being.
We currently have two females (8 months old) and one male (7 months old) available. Each bird comes with a species-specific care package, a starter seed mix, and lifetime breeder support.
